# In like a lion, out like a lamb...?!

Right now it’s 19 degrees Fahrenheit and snowing outside. Here in Michigan we’re surrounded by Great Lakes that are frozen so solid they probably won’t thaw completely until mid-July (maybe a bit of an exaggeration, but not much).
I think we need a new March saying for Michigan. I’m thinking “In like a polar bear, out like a penguin”. It keeps the alliteration, plus it covers both poles.

I was thinking the same thing about “in like a lion, out like a lamb” about March in Pittsburgh. I like your new saying.

Can’t we just say “March sucks” and be done with it? I know it’s not particularly poetic or profound, but I think it’s pretty accurate.
My yard looks like crap and I might be able to start clearing up the winter detritus next week - which marks the start of April. So, yeah, March sucks.

I also live in Pennsylvania, and over the past several years it seems like March is just another winter month, albeit with more sunlight. We’ve had precious few spring-like days this month. Highs in the low 30s today and tomorrow. Ugh.

Yeah, I know, _wah wah wah_ other people have it worse. But that doesn’t change the fact that my gardens are fully of soggy, nasty leaves and we’ve been way below our normal temps and we ran out of pellets so we’ve had to rely on oil to heat the house and it’s rainy and overcast today and dreary and nasty and MARCH SUCKS!!!

Heh. March has the highest average snowfall of any month up here. 25 inches, April is not far behind with 22 inches.
May is only 10 inches, so I have that to look forward to.

Ah, the joys of lake effect snow, eh? In my experience, March has always been more accurately described as “in like a lion, out like a much angrier lion”.

I recall last year when it was -21°F on March 1st, a good friend told me “March comes in like an asshole.”
