he says something about a bowl in the basement, and the girl says ‘what?’ To which he replies that he’s just kidding like Jason (unless she’s gonna do it) As my band are keen to do this song I’d like to know, - to what does this refer? MiM Clearly that should be 'Nelly’s" - sorry. ---

I always thought his mushmouth self was saying ‘pole’ in the basement. Like a stripper pole? I don’t know. I dislike his music so much, lawd hep me. ---

If he’s saying “bowl” I’d guess it’s a marijuana reference (as in, “let’s smoke a bowl!”), but if it’s “pole” then I think **Nzinga** is right that it would be a stripper pole. Google indicates that it is “pole”. I think Nelly’s suggesting that the women might entertain the men by dancing like strippers. The woman is offended, so Nelly tries to pass it off as a joke…unless the woman is actually willing to dance like a stripper for him. That seems to fit the general theme of the song. I’m probably the least qualified person in the world when it comes to analyzing rap music, but I think that’s what’s going on. ---

Thanks - ‘pole’ makes more sense I guess. He’s saying its hot - they should take off their clothes - why not do so at a pole! I had feared some scatalogical scandal involving a US celeb called Jason of which I was ignorant, so pole dancing for his pleasure is certainly preferable to my bizarre ideas. I have heard it as “fold” in the basement, but I think it’s a **HOLE** in the basement If so, I think it’s a _Silence of the Lambs_ reference, but “Buffalo Bill” wouldn’t fit into the “lyrical rappery”. On the other hand, if it is fold, it might be a folding bed…she IS taking off her clothes, right? _BTW: “Lyrical rappery” is now mine. It will cost you a pack of Sabrett’s or Nathan’s, or a pie from Gino’s East to use it outside of the SDMB. muahahahahaha_ ---

See what you’ve done? I had totally rid myself of the habit of saying, “So take off all your clothes” whenever someone said “It’s hot in here.” Even worse was that after I spoke the words, ‘so take off all your clothes’ I would sometimes sing “I am getting so hot, I wanna take my clothes off” while doing that fresh push your boobies out and back dance. I’d do this at work. In an accounting firm. Good thing for me everyone here knows I’m insane and paid me no mind. It’s been really cold outside these last few days and they’ve cranked up the heat in the office. This morning the IT guy said it was really hot in here. My old habits are back. Curse you, **Made in Macau**! ---
