Just for the record, **Lib** is a man of pronounced opinions, standards, and commitments, and he **lives out** what he says on this board in real life. I have reason to know, and I find snide posts which imply otherwise to be beneath contempt. ---

Man, we got some strange days going on around here of late. Got guys climbing out on the ledge, threatening to jump. Guys picking fights over whether a chihuahua is a better coon dog than a dachsund. And guys getting pissed off because some _other_ guy is being too nice to _another_ other guy. I blame Bush. ---

Hmm. I think I’ll use **Diogenes’** phrase “mercurial and unpredictable” to describe my objections to some of **Lib’s** posting behavior. I’ve posted rude shit at **Lib** in threads out of exasperation, but **leander** , I think this pitting is unjustified. No matter how much I may object to some of his posts, he makes me _think_ about my own conclusions on a lot of things he discusses. I can’t name too many other posters that do that. He also seems to have attracted a little following of stalkers (I’m especially looking at _you_ **Desmostylus** and **lissener** who are more than willing to jump his shit over, IMHO, nothing. Plus, when he posts a good one, it’s a fucking grand slam! ---

A very funny parody, Leander! 😃 I think that only a fool would believe Coldfire, of all people, to be susceptible to flattery and ass-kissing. I gave him recognition because I admire him. Nothing between us has changed. He will continue, as a poster, to fire back at me with ridicule and contempt over my views about this and that, and I will continue to return shot for shot. But as a moderator, he will continue to be objective and fair, and I will continue admire him for it. I know that is how he will behave because it is the nature of the man. Actions come from what’s inside. ---

leander, you started out as an ass but you seem to be getting obsessive. There have been posters that I don’t like on these boards before (fortunately very few) and you know what I do? I stop reading their posts. If you hate lib so much, stop reading his posts (I’m not going to use the i word because I don’t want it to be taken in the literal vBulletin sense.) You _know_ he’s not going to change, and besides that you’re not even trying to change him, you’re just being a dick. ---

I would apologize except that I didn’t hurt you. I know this because only a friend is hurt by an outburst from another friend, and a friend seeks an explanation, knowing that the outburst must itself have been born of a deep hurt. It is possible that you were merely careless, and that the timing of your God citation was the most unfortunate of coincidences. But if you were thoroughly unconcerned about the effect it had on me, or why it upset me, then you would do as you have in fact done — demand an apology, reject any explanation, and require detailed assurances as to how I will never again put you in the awkward position of stepping on my face. ---

My experience with him leaves me little faith that he’s going to behave in an honest or honorable fashion on this messageboard. **Polycarp’s** testimony as to his off-board behavior notwithstanding, I’ve found him to be a disagreeable, dishonest, vicious, egocentric person around these parts. Sure, he’s got his on days, but lately they’re far outnumbered by his off days. I was offended, but if I was hurt, it was a pretty minor hurt: I’ve not come to expect good behavior from him, and his response, while sillier than I expected (me? **Satan**?), was about the sort of denial-of-guilt that I expected him to offer. In any case, there’s really no explanation he can offer that will make his comparison of me to Satan acceptable. He was quite clear on that point, and it’s quite clear to me that, unable to accept that his behavior is disgraceful for anyone, let alone someone who worships a God of love, he’s trying to be so nasty to me that I won’t ever point out his nastiness to him again. It won’t quite work, but I sure won’t take him seriously again. I’ll point out his nastiness, his hypocrisy, his deceitfulness, and his egocentrism when I see it, but only to help other people realize that they waste their time engaging him seriously. On the off chance he both apologizes for his behavior and convinces me that he’s going to do something to prevent being such an ass in the future, I might be persuaded to engage with him in intellectual conversation again. Frankly, I don’t expect him to, and I consider it no great loss. Daniel ---
