# In restaurants, do you "shorthand" your order?

The problem is that most servers and cooks don’t understand the lingo themselves. Try ordering a steak “black and blue” or “pittsburgh style” and over 50% of the time they will either look at you like you’re talking moonman language or you will get something other than quickly seared on very high heat and served blue rare
