We were credited with 24 points. I’d say we earned that many, but our initial count was 20. We played as **Lapdances with Wolves** , by the way, which made the quizmistress laugh. Good job, **Cervaise**. Stupid too-broad question of the night: What was the only country to fight on both sides during WWII? Our answer was France, quiz answer was Italy, and it’s a stupid question regardless. ---

Apparently we got credit for our mangled spelling of the capital of Madagascar, among other fudges. (I’m somewhat mollified by the knowledge that the quizmistress didn’t really know, either; when she said the answer, it was clear from her mispronunciation that she had the correct spelling but didn’t know how to say it, which is what I’m figuring allowed us to squeak by with it.) I didn’t hear what the second-place team got, either, so I don’t know our margin of victory. I just know it was rough, and we got lucky on a lot of guesses, and we were genuinely surprised when she announced we won. ---

I’m almost positive we got credit for obesophobia, which we said was fear of fat and she read as fear of gaining weight; and for the first president to live in the White House, which we said was JQ Adams and was actually just J Adams. (Which should be a reminder to be vague when answering questions: we should’ve just written Adams.) We didn’t give ourselves credit for either of those in the initial tally. I’d feel bad about the guys next to us if I hadn’t noticed them listening to us for some answers. I mean, all’s fair and all that, but I’m happy we didn’t piggyback them to a win. ---

I’ve decided to try my hand at this contest you describe. I’m not as smart as you all, I’m sure, but I hope I have a fact or two stored away that will come in handy.
