And I have never understood why Sam said “Sorry, we’re closed,” to whoever it was at the door in that last scene. There was a perfect opportunity for it to be either Norm’s never-seen wife, **or** , the kid from the first scene of the first episode. He was twelve, and Sam told him to come back when he was twenty-one…and the finale was nine years later. 🤨 ---

I coulda swore I heard the reboot was going to be set in Chicago. 🤔 ETA: I feel like going back to Boston is a mistake. It means viewers will just be focused on getting references and cameos from _Cheers_, and it’ll be harder to make it its own show, like the original _Frasier_ was. _Frasier_ worked because it stood on its own, and you rarely even thought about the _Cheers_ gang while watching it. ---

Actually I hope they don’t have any references to Cheers or cameos from cast members. The show should stand on its own. (I expect it might reference Frasier though; perhaps something about where Niles and Daphne are today, and about how Martin eventually passed away.) ---

And that’s why I think it’s dumb to go back to Boston. Now Cheers references are just going to be expected, or teased or whatever. They had a whole country, and they have him go back to Boston? But he won’t see anyone he hung out when he lived there before? I’m already skeptical it’s going to work. ---

You remember wrongly. Perhaps you are conflating an episode of Frasier where Martin’s bar gets closed and redeveloped, by a group that Frasier and Niles invested in. Cheers ended with Norm getting a job, Cliff getting a promotion, Woody’s side careers as an actor and in local politics beginning to take off, and Rebecca marrying an ordinary decent guy. As for “the bar being torn down,” there was an episode earlier in the season where the owner of Sam’s rival bar, Gary’s Old Town Tavern, is tricked by Harry the con man into tearing down his own bar. ---
