Similarly, the most banal and everyday objects can be given great importance when viewed through the eyes of a truly great artist. Consider Marcel DuChamp’s [Fountain](http://www.abcgallery.com/D/duchamp/duchamp26.html), or William Carlos William’s poem, [The Red Wheelbarrow](http://www.poets.org/poems/poems.cfm?prmID=1382). On their own, these are not at all profund objects, but they are deeply profound works of art. Anyone who tries to run Psalm 23 through the Pornalizer is going straight to Hell, just so you know. Incidentally, if **Kurdt** wants to impress people with how dark and fucked-up his life is, he should be aware of exactly what sort of [competition](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=228968) he’s up against. There are people in the world with much worse problems than being a shitty writer. Come back when you’ve got some actual tragedy in your life, or don’t come back at all. ---
