I like the longer sunny hours in the summer time, too, I suppose.

But goddammit, it’s only one hour, but it completely screws up my internal clock! I slept until noon and I’m STILL fucking groggy. Plus, the cats wake up earlier than usual, and figure we’re sleeping in and not feeding them, so they come and try to wake us up. Buffy keeps head butting doors and both she AND Noel are knocking the crap off of everyone’s dressers.

_sigh_ Curse you, DST!!! CURSE YOU!!!

I move my clocks ahead Saturday evenign at 6pm. That way when 10 :00 rolls around, it feels like bedtime and I hit the sack.

Heck, I moved my clocks ahead Saturday afternoon, so for me, it was light out until 7:30 pm. Sweet! (I know, I’m amused easily.)

Cursed “Spring Ahead”!!

**ValleyGirl** (2 months old) has settled into a midnight to noon sleep pattern (except for waking for feeding about 37 times per night). Needless to say, I’m not thrilled about the time change, which makes it 1 am to 1 pm. ☹

I fuckin’ hate it too.

And I live in the U.P. of Michigan, which by all accounts should be on CST, but OH FUCK NO, we have to be EST! The moron Michigan politicians decided that the whole goddamn state has gotta be in the same time zone, even though we’re about a thousand FUCKING miles west of downstate Michigan. Which means that it stays light in the summer until about 11PM, and it’s still dark in the morning when I want light. Geographically we’re the same as Wisconsin, but it’s EST for us.

I was loving life for the last 6 weeks or so, having the sun wake me up. No more - harder heads have prevailed.

Ya know, here in Arizona we don’t **do** Daylight Saving Time. We never have to run around the house reseting clocks. We don’t show up early or late for activities twice a year.

I lve it.

The only annoying thing is that the rest of you silly people insist on switching your time every 6 months. When I’m going to call my mother in Texas I can never remember if they are 1 or 2 hours ahead of us.

Just when the sun stopped blinding me and anyone who else that drives East on their morning commute. Come Monday a bunch of half-blind half-awake drivers will be unleashed. There’s a bus strike here, so we’re dealing with a bunch of rookie drivers to begin with. There will be accidents. There will be fatalities. It happens every year.

Children throughout the nation will be making puddles of drool on their desks when they could be learning. Worker productivity will take a dip. Workplace safety will suffer. All of this because the Resturant and Theater lobby puts some pressure on congress.

My co-worker who is late every day anyway will show up an hour late with a handy once-a-year excuse. She’s done it every year. But she manages every year to remember the “Fall forward” and not show up an hour early.

I’m curious, what do the restaurant and theater lobby have to do with DST?

We don’t do DST in Saskatchewan either.

So we only have to keep track of it elsewhere for out-of-province phone calls, etc., and because the television schedules are re-shuffled like a deck of cards. Usually programs will be moved up an hour, but sometimes the entire daily schedule will be re-organized.

_ponders_ Shouldn’t this be the other way around? You should be getting up an hour EARLIER than what the cats are used to, not later. What was noon yesterday is now 1pm.

My head hurts. I worked till 2am on a project last night, and suddenly realized, no, thanks to DST I’d technically worked till 3 and had one less hour to sleep. Grumble grumble.

> People have the idea that the purpose of daylight saving time is to give them more time to frolic on summer evenings. Hah. The real purpose is to conserve energy. You want to line up the hours of daylight with the hours most people are up and about. That way they’ll use the lights less and we’ll waste less oil, coal, etc.

THANK YOU! I fucking hate Daylight Savings Time. A pointless maneuver to give us more daylight in the evenings. I’d rather have that hour in the morning so I can what the fuck I’m doing when driving.

I wish I lived in Arizona. Or in the billions of other countries that laugh at DST. (Aren’t we the only ones who this)

If only you were! Sadly, we do it here in Britain, they do it in Oz, in Canada, and they do in most European countries, I seem to recall. Damn nuisance. ☹ Not least because the countries that DO change their clocks don’t even do it at the same times, so there is a period of a couple of weeks (see how carefully I did not say “fortnight” ? 🙂 ) when it is really hard to remember that one might have to add 2 hours onto the relevant timezone difference, before settling down to adding 1 hour to whatever the difference was to start with. Then, you take away the number you first thought of…

No, I slept until what was noon TODAY, but it was eleven yesterday. Sorry for the misconception.

And Daylight SAVING Time. Gotcha.

I’m so not a morning person, either. I’d be happy staying up until 3 am and getting up at 11-12. But it doesn’t always work that way.

[70 countries use DST](http://webexhibits.org/daylightsaving/g.html). The USA is not unique.
