Religion is not like a belief in Big Foot (although I’m sure you would argue it is), it can be a way of life. When you don’t respect someone’s beliefs, put yourself in their shoes. How would it feel to be laughed at, because of something you hold, not only very dear, but something that you see as the unalterable truth? Also, your “dragon” analogy doesn’t hold much water. For a vast majority of the world religion is seen as, not only the truth, but a way of life. Does this make it true for everyone? No, but it should garner some respect. You find it extremely absurd for people to believe in being punished for sins. Good for you, although unless you are specifically talking about your SO and the limited amount of friends you have, I don’t know anyone who’s basis for not committing crimes is because they will go to hell. That doesn’t make any sense, because Jesus forgives, even for that. Hypothetically, you could be a mass murderer and on your death bed you could repent, if you really mean it (I suppose, I’m not one to judge here), then you go to heaven. Personally, I say hey, believe what you want. I could care less. But you were asking about your SO. In which case, I think, and I still think, that your relationship is headed towards disaster. It seems to me that you don’t even care enough about her to let her believe what she wants. I mean, really, the simpson’s are on, gotta go. Let me ask you this, when she starts religious discussion with you, is it her coming up to you honestly wanting to engage in a discussion, or is it you making a snide remark as she tells you she’s going to church? ---

Lib, I’ve spent a year studying the bible, several years on the internet reading about it, and my whole damn life hearing about it but it’s a big book! You can’t expect me to know everything about it when I haven’t read it in 6 years. Hell, Shogun is one of my favorite books and I can’t tell you everything about it. However, I can tell you that I liked it when I read it, and I can likewise tell you that I was unimpressed with, uninspired by, and skeptical of the bible when I read it. ---

What I don’t get is that I’ve always known you as a christian poster who believes in jesus but now all of a sudden you’re saying that the bible is lame and over in the other thread you’re saying that you don’t believe in the judeo christian god. I think that this would be a good time to mention that my girlfriend (and most christians I know) admittedly knows alot less about christianity than I do. I also wanted to mention that this is a seriously wussified pit thread. I haven’t heard one damn thing about festering ass pustules or rotting skunk feces. This same conversation could have easily continued in the original MPSIMS thread. Frankly, I’m dissapointed ;). ---
