Okay, I’ll give you points on that one. Nice. 😃

If by “act up” you mean “responds in kind”, then I plead guilty as charged.

I’m perfectly happy to post in a polite and civil style. That’s how I always am away from this board. But if you want to post beligerent, insulting or dishonest things about me or people who think as I do, then you can expect the same in return.

I’m also happy to engage in a slugfest with whoever wants one for as long as it takes. The only time I defend my posting behavior is in response to other posters complaining about it or seeking to have me censored, at which time it’s perfectly appropriate.

Fair enough.

Let me just catch up on the rest of the thread real quick before I get back to you. Should just take a sec.

> [@Starving\_Artist](#):
>
> More like awake all night, along with this. (And still awake now, doing other stuff, five hours later. 🆒)
>
> Oops. I said I wasn’t going to be posting anymore unless somebody said something important. Blew that one, didn’t I? 😉

> [@Starving\_Artist](#):
>
> What’s all this stuff about me saying the same thing over and over? In the first place, every comment I made after the first was triggered by comments other posters made. They directed the conversation, not me. And how many different ways is a poster supposed to describe the benefits of spending reduction or refute accusations of selfishness?
>
> How many times around here do we read on this board that Bush/Palin/Republicans/conservatives are stupid, selfish and evil? Easlily a thousand times more than anything I post, and in the same overall way - and that’s not an exaggeration. I could not begin to post as much repetitive stuff about liberals as goes on around here about conservatives if I posted twenty four hours a day. Repetitiveness isn’t the problem. If I was posting in the exact same manner against the right, and I’d be a hero around here.
>
> The real problem is, I talk about liberals in exactly the same way that posters here talk about conservatives. I began posting this way precisely because of the way posters on this board talk about conservatives. And typically, the hive mind can’t bear it.
>
> This includes **Miller** , who has made no secret of his dislike for me based upon what I say about liberals, of which he proudly is one. He takes personally the generalized criticisms I make and has told me so more than once. So he gets a report that I’m hijacking a thread, comes flying in in high dither, scans mostly only what I said, concludes I’m hijacking the thread, and flies off the handle, exercising his moderator powers in a manner that I think we can all agree is atypical of both him and mod practice in general, and which clearly crosses the line into abuse and insult, which is supposed to be against board rules when it comes to moderators.
>
> Again, there is nothing I do - not repetiveness, not aggressiveness, not generalizations about the other side, not anything - that doesn’t go on around here in spades when it’s coming from the other direction and no one even notices.
>
> Another point I want to make about the repetitiveness issue is that just because an established poster has read it before, that doesn’t mean new posters or readers have. So when liberal posters new or old start spouting their usual anti-conservatiive bullshit, I counter with my usual pro-conservative or anti-liberal rebuttals just to make it clear to both them and new readers that their bullshit is not accepted fact. Neither side is posting anything new, it’s just that one side wants to be the only voice.

> [@Starving\_Artist](#):
>
> Excellent post and right on the money. Wish I’d thought to put it that way.
>
> It remains there but so does the post it addresses. Then when someone comes along later, skims the thread and only sees subsequent posts (which again, are repetitive as well or aimed at me because of something I’d said earlier) then I think a new response is called for. Besides, it’s my impression that it’s the repetitiveness of my overall style and message that people are objecting to rather than individual threads.
>
> I regard it as a descriptor, and a fairly accurate one. People on this board are pretty much of the same (hive) mind when it comes to political issues, and they detest and vigorously attack anyone who disagrees with them. Like I said already, even **Sam Stone** and **Bricker** get derided as stupid, and assholes to boot. So when it comes to how the board attacks dissenting opinion, the behavior is hivelike as well. Thus “hive mind” is indeed an accurate label, and in two ways.
>
> And why should I care if people find the term insulting when they don’t hesitiate for an instant to insult me?
>
> I deny that it goes on to any appreciable degree, and with certainly nowhere near the condemnation for it that I get.
>
> Really, there is a very simple solution to the problem of my behavior on this board: stop attacking people for their political beliefs, and behave in a considerate and respectful manner toward those with different viewpoints or have moral objections to what you support.
>
> Now, having said that, it’s a simple solution but one that is pretty much impossible, wouldn’t you agree? And the fact that it’s impossible is what has brought us to where we are now. You people are insisting on a huge double-standard, wherein you can stomp and curse and yell and behave hatefully toward me and others who think like I do, yet where I’m expected to use tact and be respectful and strive not to be insulting or post too much. And the reason for that is that you people are so utterly and absolutely convinced that you are right about everything that anyone who thinks differently has to be wrong and not deserving of respect, while at the same time feeling that your perfectly obvious righteousness demands to be treated respectfully and with consideration for your feelings.
> But guess what? It doesn’t work like that. You get your own behavior reflected back at you, no matter how right or wrong you may happen to be, and if you want to behave arrogantly and beligerently and insultingly, then you deserve to be treated just the same in return.

> [@Starving\_Artist](#):
>
> No, **Miller’s** behavior was exempt from having his behavior relflected back at him by virtue of his mod hat.
>
> And you couldn’t count the number of times when I’ve posted in a polite, reasoned and respectful tone to someone only to be offensively attacked by them in return or by other posters who read what I said.
>
> How many times am I going to have to say this: NO, I DID NOT UNDERSTAND **MILLER** TO BELIEVE I HAD HIJACKED THE THREAD!!!
>
> If you want to know what I did think about his behavior, I would suggest you look up the posts I’ve already made explaining all about it.
>
> And no, opposing posters don’t get to decide for themselves that a thread is being hijacked. I’m sure they’d love it if they could. Then there’d never be dissent and the board could proceed with being a happy liberal hatefest aimed at conservatives, free from all but the most scant opposition. It would be paradise.

> \<I’m going to be repetitive here\>

> Even **Sam Stone** and **Bricker** , in my opinion the two most calm, reasonable and dispassionate advocates of conservative (or more likely, libertarian) beliefs, get called stupid and get called assholes and all the same names I get called, for no reason other than they disagree with what the board’s liberals believe. The primary reason they don’t come in for as much as I do is that they don’t post as often or on as many subjects.
>
> - **Bosstone’s** and **Implicit’s** posts and my answers are almost perfect examples of why I so often find it necessary to repeat myself. They clearly haven’t picked up on what I’ve already said, so it becomes necessary to say it all over again, both for their benefit and for any of a number of other posters who have shown time and again even in this thread that they haven’t read what I’ve already said.)

So, basically what you have already said. Got it.

Well… there really aren’t many or any more intelligent political message boards with a decent number of posters on the internet[sup]1[/sup]: “Fighting ignorance” gives this board focus and permission to apply fundamental principles of rhetoric and reason.

Anyway, methinks the coping strategies have sharpened your argumentation, which I suspect we agree is a good thing, setting aside the additional effort involved.

I can’t let this by. With respect **SA** , that pair are on a higher level than most posters. They receive a lot of flack, but it’s a different type of flack than the kind you receive.
[sup]1[/sup]Of course some of the satellite boards are worth a look.

No offense taken at all. Both of those guys are very smart and they spend a lot of time delving into things, and by all rights they should be getting a different type of flack than they do. But if you will take the time to do some searching, I think you’ll find that is hardly a name that I’ve been called that they haven’t been called, and that their intelligence hasn’t been insulted in very much the same way mine and the other conservative posters to this board have. The reason that this is so is that to the liberal crowd, anyone who hasn’t already fallen into lockstep with their beliefs and attitudes is simply stupid or an asshole. That’s it. You’ve either got to be stupid or evil to think differently than a liberal, and I’ve seen this attitude expressed via various public venues hundreds if not thousands of times over the last forty-five years, though of course the practice goes back much further than that; William F. Buckley was writing about it in the early fifties and it was going on in academia at the turn of the century. Still, it’s mostly been in the last forty-five years that this arrogant practice has found its way into everyday life. So all **Sam** and **Bricker** have to do is express a non-liberal opinion and they’re immediately dismissed as idiots and assholes, labels I’ve seen applied to both at one time or another.

Still, you’re right. **Bricker** and **Sam** do come in for a different type of treatment than I do, but I think I may be a tad more…okay, a lot more…confrontational than they are, and it isn’t much of a reach to see why I therefore come in for a lot more abuse. So far as I know I’m pretty much the only poster on this board who’s willing to get right in their face and lay the consequences of their beliefs and influence right at their feet. To people who go through their lives thinking they are - if I may borrow your term - special ‘snowflakes’ spreading goodness and light throughout the world, being told they are responsible for fucking up a country and millions of lost lives since they rose to prominence is somewhat shocking and not something they are likely to take lightly as it fucks with their entire world view and their view of themselves. Thus I come in for a hell of a lot of abuse, and I understand and accept that. So there really isn’t any reason to compare the treatment Sam and Bricker come in for compared with the treatment I get in terms of widespread animus, but the fact that they come in for the insults and name-calling they do get shows that taking the tactful, considerate line of opposition around here still brings on a rash of shit from the self-professed liberal cognoscenti that dominates this board.

This is – um – ahh – basically incorrect. The fact that you believe you can compare yourself to **Bricker** , **Sam** , and even William F. Buckley is – um – ahh – special.

**Bricker** and **Sam** make (usually) rational arguments, back them with cites, and are (frequently) responded to with equally rational arguments and additional cites. Sometimes the facts and even their own cites are against them, and they are treated to some deserved derision. Sometimes their arguments and the facts they offer in support are more persuasive and they score points of their own. Of course, I doubt that many of us liberals have been converted to conservatism by their arguments any more than they themselves have been enlightened into liberalism 😃 by ours. However, although **Bricker** and **Sam** remain ardently conservative, their interaction with this on-line community is different in kind, not simply in degree, from your own.

In contrast to those gentlemen you offer precious little in the way of factual evidence. (I would say “none” but there must be an exception somewhere.) You repeat yourself and your personal anecdotes endlessly, apparently believing that they then constitute evidence. And you always and everlastingly find it necessary to rant again and again and again the central tenet of your world view, that liberals “are responsible for fucking up a country and millions of lost lives since they rose to prominence”. You do this no matter what the subject of the thread actually is, just as you have done here. Recall that this thread was about moderation; it is after all your own OP. But again you have hijacked a thread, this time _ **your own thread** _, into yet another butt-hurt “everybody is hateful to me, and it’s because I’m a conservative, and all liberals want to suppress the voice of truth so they can continue to destroy the world” diatribe. Just like you did in the thread in question.

Puh-LEESE!! **Miller** ’s admonition to you was spot on point, as would be a similar admonition here.

Heh. “I accuse the membership of this board of accessory to homicide in dozens of posts, yet I can’t imagine why people here treat me with contempt”. Yeah, right.

Question for the reader’s consideration: how is accusing liberals of being responsible for millions of deaths not hate speech? I’m genuinely curious.

Thank you ever so much for your truly enlightening analogy.

The next time I see a dozen iterations of **SA** ’s signature “everybody is hateful to me, and it’s because I’m a conservative, and all liberals want to suppress the voice of truth so they can continue to destroy the world” rant inserted irrelevantly into some completely innocent thread, I’ll be sure to recall your post. Fondly.

You can do that if you’d like, in those hypothetical future threads. The analogy may or may not be relevant in those threads, of course, but have at it.

But it’s definitely relevant in this thread. So you can begin thinking about it now.

Thought about it. Gave it all the consideration it deserved. Rejected it.
