The Buccaneers won today. At last. Against the Saints, who’d beaten us four times in a row.
I knew one thing as an absolute certainty this morning- that if Brian Griese ever took a snap outside of preseason, we would lose that game by at least 14 points.
He took the Saints apart. Well, okay, maybe not… but we actually had a passing game for the first time all season after he came in. (I lie- we had a passing game in the first four games, but that was based around throwing the ball to the other team).
Now I understand how Dolphins fans felt last season when Fiedler got hurt.
Crap QB #1 gets hurt, Brian Griese performs excellently in relief. Dolphins/Bucs fans go apeshit, jump on the Brian Griese bandwagon, and he is promptly inserted as the starter.
He proceeds to play horribly in the next three games, reminding everyone that a) he’s Brian Griese, and b) it was the Chargers/Saints he put up those big numbers on. Crap QB#1 is duly reinserted, and… team missed playoffs anyway.
1 - Although I did not watch the game, the stats indicate that Simms was doing just fine prior to being injured.
2 - I don’t think that Griese is the saviour, but bear in mind what a horrible offensive coordinator the Dolphins have had lately. It’s quite possible that when he had to rely on talent vs game plan he did fine, but when restricted by the game plan he sucked.
3 - The Saints defense sucks (that was a bonus point)
You’re an extremely lucky man, because New Orleans are definitely the better team.
There’s something about being a lame duck that makes quarterbacks play really well. Kitna last year, and Warner and Brees this year…
He was. You never got the sense that he could actually win the game, but he wasn’t going to lose it. I’m just saying it was amazing how effective Griese was, especially considering how useless Brad Johnson has been this year.
Next up, the Rams in St. Louis. Balancing the needs of my fantasy team against the needs of my real team is going to be unpleasant
Ok, lesse…four wins in Week five…so, with the bye week, that’ll be 15 wins in Week 17. Now, if the Eagles go undefeated, then the Giants would have to play in the Wild Card…that makes the Wild Card game as 16, then they beat the Eagles in Divisional playoffs for 17, and the Conference Championship makes it 18, so winning the Super Bowl will be the Giants’ 19th straight win.
Yeah, I know what you mean. Wait a minute, no I don’t.
You’re going to make my head explode, talking about the Giants winning out and mentioning a wildcard because the sheagles go undefeated.
We will of course beat the Sheagles when they visit East Rutherford, but then we could both end up 15-1, with each other being the only losses. That brings up tiebreakers, which for the most part won’t apply because we’ll have the same divisional record, the same common game record, and the same conference record.
That brings it to net touchdowns, which the Eagles would almost certainly have the edge in, so yes, we could win out and still be a wildcard.
D’oh! You’re right, Ellis Dee (heyyyy…I’ve seen you’re username for months now, and never “got it” until now). I totally forgot to figure November 28th into the mix. But yes, the Giants will be smearing the 'Birds that day, meaning your theory will work just fine as well…woohoo! 19-in-a-row, here we come!
You obviously didn’t grow up as a child with the song:
Mar-i-juana, Mar-i-juana
L-S-D, L-S-D
Rockefeller makes it
Lyndon Johnson takes it
Why can’t we? Why can’t we?*
I predict the Bucs are going to win the pennant this weekend!
*And they wonder why we kids caught between the “Baby Boom” and “Generation X” are all messed up
