How do I report what I think is an inappropriate Google ad?

Work at Home Scams!
Revealed! Learn which programs Really work. Minimal start-up fee. [home.comcast.net](http://home.comcast.net) (GQ 9/16/06)
I really don’t think this is the kind of ad we want on the SDMB. ☹

That’s not an ad FOR running scams; it merely purports to warn the reader which such programs are scams and reveal the ones that aren’t.

Riiiiight. Sounds like for a “minimal start up fee,” it will tell you which programs are scams, and steer you to the “work at home and make a million dollars an hour” programs that _aren’t_ scams. (And am I the only one who thinks the rolleyes smiley looks like it should be the “sorry I barfed on your carpet, mom, but I _told_ you I didn’t feel good” smiley?)

Well, I did say “purports”. 😛

Well, I’ll let you in on a little bit of a lawyer-weasel secret: to determine how strongly someone feels about something, you need to count the “purportedly” type words in the sentence. Here’s yours:

> [@Q.E.D.](#):
>
> That’s not an ad FOR running scams; it merely purports to warn the reader which such programs are scams and reveal the ones that aren’t.

Here’s a weasel sentence:

> [@](#):
>
> That’s not an ad FOR running scams; it supposedly merely purports to warn the alleged reader which such alleged programs purportedly are scams and supposedly to reveal the ones that purportedly aren’t.

Since that’s the kind of crap I’m used to reading, you can see how I got confused by your statement, which was relatively straightforward. 🙂

That should be obvious the instant you read the word “scams.” A true scam dares not reveal itself as such.

Scams often take the trouble to say “This is not a scam.” Genuine things don’t because they already know they aren’t scams.

**Dex** , by following your guidelines I understand the procedure now. Thanks.
