I have to ask, do they do the same for all-female organizations?
I was in college from 98-02. We had a few sets of dorms. In one of them smoking was permitted. Due to the style of those dorms (they were set up like apartments) with 7 to a ‘room’, a lot of people that didn’t smoke opted for them, but smoking was allowed.
During the summers I would take classes at UW-Milwaukee. They allowed smoking in the actual school. It had, of course, been many many years since they allowed it in the actual classrooms, though the desks still had ashtray holders. But there was a lounge (meant for studying) near the food court that allowed smoking. That always surprised me.
I’m pretty sure the phys ed slave auction wouldn’t fly these days. And i know most of the hostel initiations have been toned down. Being roused from my drunken slumbers by a half naked masked guy brandishing a chainsaw was a bit much in retrospect.
