It occurs to me that I probably should add something new since **freetobeme** claims my guilty little secret for his own. But hey, didn’t that show win some kinda award lately? so it can’t be only me… I don’t know how to hook up my vcr to my home theater system. It really shouldn’t be that hard but dammit, it doesn’t work. ---

I second the Iron Maiden. And I’m not what you would call a metalhead, but for some reason… Oh, I own ‘The Jazz Singer’ (Neil Diamond version) on VHS, DVD and I have the soundtrack on cassette and CD. The “I want my father back, you son of a bitch” line in the Princess Bride makes me cry… ---

I think I’m getting hooked on my daughter’s Disney Princess Fruit Snacks. She fed me one (they’re in little baggies of eight or nine pieces) while she was eating them a week or so back, and then again the next couple times she had some… And right at this moment I’m contemplating raiding the pantry and snagging a bag of them for myself. ---

If I’m home alone in the mornings, I turn on some loud music, leave the bathroom door open and shamelessly boogie all on my lonesome as I shower. I once cooked a big bowl of mince for friends coming over for tacos, but I changed my mind and we out for dinner instead. Later, armed with a spoon I ate the whole bowl by myself. I talk to my message machine at work: _Hi Jodi, this is Bob from Transportation . . ._ Hi, Bob \* . . . and I have those figures you wanted on the 28th Street project . . ._Glad to hear it, Bob_ . . . and I wondered if you want me to e-mail them . . ._No, beam them directly into my head. Bob_ . . . or just put hard copies in the mail . . ._E-mail is fine_ . . . etc. etc. I eat stuff out of my refrigerator bite by bite, putting the item (whatever it is) back in the fridge between bites, on the theory that if I never remove it from the fridge I’m not really eating it. ---

I can code small COBOL programs. I’ve even installed a COBOL compiler that claims partial standards compliance. I think the idea of associating a record type with a filehandle is neat, even though the age when that would have been a big deal is long past. (Of course, I can’t get past the complete lack of intelligent syntax and subroutines. What, was it so difficult to ape Fortran in those two respects? Does expanding every nontrivial mathematical expression to three or four lines and requiring a handful of useless temporary variables really aid comprehension? There. I feel better.) I sometimes listen to 1970s easy listening. I think it’s the same odd bug that drew me to the ineffable ugliness of COBOL, I don’t know. ---

Whenever I go to the IMDb I don’t use their search engine, rather I try to click my way to what I want through the days birthdays. You know the deal, so-and-so was in this movie with s-and-so forth until I get to the person I want. The embarassing part is that I suck at it. I often end up backtracking and giving up. ---
