I’ve had “Love Bites” by Def Leppard in my head for three days straight. Sometimes I correct people’s spelling during arguments on chat, but I always look the words up first to make sure. I am much more resourceful than I am actually knowledgable. I caused myself temporary neurological damage once by huffing too mich nitrous oxide. Instead of cleaning the catbox more often, I now have an automated catbox sitting on top of a milkcrate and replaced the little disposal tray with a kitchen garbage bag. I live in California and I still like the movies “True Lies” and “Total Recall”. I own a lot more books than i’ve actually read. I lost my virginity to Adam Ant’s “Strip” album. Art Museums bore the heck out of me usually. I like to watch Teletubbies on the rare occassion that I work out in the morning. I can’t even park in front of an animal shelter without sobbing. I forgot to proofread or spellcheck my college thesis. I really like Vienna Sausages. ---

That’s not communist, that’s just _evil_!! I don’t like soda or any alcoholic beverage. I don’t like the bubbly fizzy stuff, I hate it, I can’t see how anyone can stand it, or how it could quench anyone’s thirst. The only drinks I drink are water, milk, and fruit juice. I don’t like roller coasters or any kind of fast ride. Some mild coasters I can handle, like the Disneyland ones, but anything faster just makes me uneasy. I don’t mind going fast, but I need to feel like I’m in control. And of course I hate anything that makes me nauseous, because I get motion-sickness easily. I don’t like most kinds of music. I find pretty much any music with lyrics distracting, so I only like instrumental stuff. I pretty much only listen to classical, jazz, movie and game soundtracks. I don’t like sports. I don’t like playing them or watching them. Sometimes I’ll get into a game if I’m at the stadium, but after I leave I don’t care who won. There are some sports I enjoy, mostly solo ones like tennis and skiing, but I don’t even like watching those either. I pretty much don’t like anything that other people use to bond with one another or share a common interest. It makes me surprised that people enjoy hanging around me at all… ---

For the new kids in the room, I’m female and 41. There’s this girl at work that’s about, oh, 25. Every once in awhile she wears this black choker that just … oh. I just want to rip her clothes off and give her a tongue bath. Right there. On my desk. OTOH there’s a guy with a very Dom-like personality at work in a different department that makes me want to fall to my knees and hand him the crop. Makes them coming into my department rather distracting. If I had a chance at David Cassidy and Bobby Sherman as a teen, I would have been all over them too. I still listen to their music and the Partridge Family. ---

In addition to being guilty of 98% of the above (the other 2% is about stuff I haven’t heard of yet!), I am guilty of the following annoyance crimes… - I use exclamation points. A lot! - I talk to my food. If Im eating a hamburger, and ketchup splurts out of it onto my shirt, I scold it. My husband has repeatedly asked me not to. - I taught my 3 year old how to make penut butter and jelly with a spoon for lunch, so I wouldn’t have to. - I played on the monkey bars at the park yesterday. - I LOVE Destiny’s Child, Nelly and 50 Cent, and can be found singing by myself, "I a M_ **f** _\* P-I-M-P - I never though Mr. Rogers was a pedophile. - I hate Radiohead. Mostly because I don’t get them. - I am really remarkably good at pretending to be smart. A group will be gathered around discussing something like the Fiscal responsibilities of a superpower towards a third world country, and I can nod convincingly and make vague witty comments that make it sound like I’m on board, when I really couldn’t point out Antigua on a map. - I can’t remember anything about anyone. I don’t know your name, your spouses name, your birthday, if you have kids, even if I have known you for 5 years. - I really enjoy ketchup on my mac and cheese. - I really enjoy boxed mac and cheese. The more generic the better ouch, I’m a dork. ---

Don’t tell anyone, but my first concert was Billy Ray Cyrus. I was about 12 or so and so far, aside from my sister who was also there, you all are the only ones who know about it. Since then my love for cheesy country singers has diminished, and I still love the greats: George Straight, Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard… Aside from that I also love musicals, specially The King and I and My Fair Lady. Other things I love: my 3lb chihuahua Sophie and all of her accessories. She has more sweaters than I do! the movie Bubble Boy with Jake Gyllenhaal pickle-green olive-cheese-and mustard sandwiches pretending to be a character in a movie long after the end credits roll (spending the rest of the day as the character - in my head) and ANTIQUES ROADSHOW UK enough of that… ---

Between SVH, and Baby Sitters’ Club, I was obsessed. I still look for them when I go to a bookstore, but sadly, they’ve been replaced by the Olsen twins… What about the Sleepover Friends? They had lots of adventures! Now that I think about it, I read every book and do NOT remember a single plot… hmmm. Well anyways, these books cannot be left out even if they are a generic version of the above books. ---

Also hopelessly lost in 80s synth pop. The first album I bought was Men at Work, then Howard Jones and Thomas Dolby. Wham! came later. I’ve repurchased them over the years as they wear out. Erasure remains my favorite synth pop band. I also like to put mayonnaise on my french fries. ---

Alright, here goes… - This makes me sound just a teeny bit like a parrot, but I quite like a lot of 80s music. I don’t try to hide it from my friends, because a lot of them like 80s music too (in fact, they probably got me into it). But I do try quite hard to hide it from my family. If my parents found out, they would probably think I’m quite weird (but I think they’ve always thought I’m quite weird, probably because I am). But if my sister found out, she would probably try to break all familial ties with me. On more than one occasion, she has said that the 80s was the worst decade for music ever. But what can I say - I was born in the early 80s and grew up on that music, while she was born a couple of years too early, and grew up on our parents’ 60s and 70s music until grunge music was invented. Incidentally, I like 60s and 70s music too, but I’ve never really been a big fan of grunge. - I like Toto (the band - not the dog). Whenever _Rosanna_, _Africa_, or _Hold The Line_ comes on the radio, I have to sit and listen to the whole song. I own about 7 Toto CDs (some of which I haven’t even listened to!). - I use parentheses far too much (sometimes I have more than one parenthetical remark per sentence!). I consciously try to avoid them (apart from now, when I’m purposefully overusing them), but I always seem to have something additional to say about whatever I’m saying that doesn’t fit into the main flow of the sentence (I also use run-on sentences quite a bit if I’m not careful). Also, I’ve only recently realised that the word is spelled and pronounced _par **e** ntheses_ (I always used to call them _par **a** ntheses_). - I’ve spend the majority of the weekend so far lying in bed with my laptop, and I’m not even sick! Well, maybe not in the traditional sense of the word… ---
