I don’t think the OP was saying that the limit was offensive. I believe he/ she was saying that springing for the capacity of an extra 50 email storage was offensive. ---

It’s the uselessness of the offer that really gets me. As if someone who was complaining about fifty messages would find a hundred adequate for their needs! As I said, in principle I may pay for unlimited messaging. Also, I think we’re probably working from different definitions of offended. ---

Dopers are really protective of their board and its practices even when those practices are not the most effective. spankthecrumpet is right about one thing, raising the pm limit on members to something worthwhile would only increase the number of people who’d pay. ---

A sachet of ketchup sounds odd to American ears. I think kayaker just doesn’t realize that it’s used in Non-US english speaking countries. ---

I bet less than 5% of consistently active members even use private messages, nevermind for the limit to even matter to the rest that do. I think it’s fair to say that I do a bit of private messaging and deleting them to free up save space has never been a problem. Point being, it’s not worth the hassle to increase the limit when a whole one whiny bitch wants more. ---

If you look at is “Hey, I can pay for the extra PM cache space”, then yes, it’s a ridiculous offer. But that’s like looking at a budget hotel and a high end resort and saying “Wait, I have to pay an extra $300/night to get a bathrobe?” The PM cache is not what the membership is about. It might be the only part YOU are interested in, but it’s really just a side benefit. ---
