My daughter has become obsessed with this family since we went to see the sequel together. She had already seen the first one a bunch of times on DVD, but now it has become her favorite thing (buh-bye, Wonder Woman, Barbie, “Frozen”, etc.).
I don’t think she was being controlled by Evelyn as I’ve seen elsewhere as a theory.
The sign shows support in the concept of superheroes. ‘we need superheroes, Screenslaver is still out there.’
But Elastigirl gets sad and worried because the sign is literally true. She hasn’t caught Screenslaver yet and he is still out there. She expresses those worries in the next scene.
A sign like that is more a rebuke than an expression of support, and I think just about anyone would read it that way. Just didn’t ring true to me, given the tenor of the scene.
Had mine. I saw it when it was attached to Incredibles 2, liked it, but assumed that among the nominees there would be at least one that was better. No such luck. It was a lackluster year for Animated Short and after seeing them all, Bao was easily the best of the lot.
I hated this movie. I TOTALLY LOVED the first Incredibles movie, and all the allegories about family roles. This sequel was just a brainless action movie featuring the same characters, but with no heart. I haven’t been so disappointed in a follow-up movie since the Star Wars prequels.
Bao was just flat-out bizarre. Problem is, in some Asian Pixar-fan circles, it’s considered almost “race treason” to criticize Bao, even if it’s legit criticism.
Not an Incredibles fan, never saw part 1. My wife loved part 1. We just saw part 2. I hated it like I knew I would. My wife hated it and she couldn’t get past the lisp of the mother character. Says it drove her to distraction. We both thought it was way too long. The baby was cute, the little boy was a pain in the ass, and the daughter was just too much a cookie cutter movie teen girl. To quote the review guys from In Living Coler, “Hated it!”
