Loved the original, thrilled about a sequel, although they really should have struck when the iron was hot and not 20 years later. Trailer looks fine. You don’t expect much depth beyond the military stuff. Although really if they were going to continue the story they should have done a TV show. I’ve never been a fan of whole wars resolving themselves in 2 hours. Presumably if these aliens are taking another crack at Earth, they’d make better preparations so that they wouldn’t lose the war in just three days again. ---

Some plot holes in the first movie: 1. I dont think all the spaceships would have been destroyed since only a few countries have air forces capable of going head to toe with the alien ships even without their shields. Although SAM’s and other missiles could have also targeted the big alien ships. 2. Nuclear weapons. ID4 only shows the US using one. Other countries would have also tried. And just a note, I’d guess that after it came out that the USA had been sitting on an alien spacecraft for 40 years and didnt tell anyone, wouldnt have gone over well. ---

The first movie was cheesy action garbage, the sequel has got to be worse because all the interesting things you could explore in a post-alien-attack-sequel are far too intelligent to fit the sheer dumbness of the first movie. ---
