Do they take Santa?
Crap is crap. Though I admit I liked the TV series “24” a whole lot more when I watched it as a comedy/satire than when I thought of it as a serious (and awful) spy series.
You and many other people.
I would have shot that little girl in the head for all that screaming, but aside from that I thought it wasn’t too bad. Kinda like the original Jurassic Park, better without the kids.
Then explain why it wasn’t funny.
It was perhaps mildly amusing at the worst. The guy walking around with the tape recorder, “we are your friends” I found to be funny as hell.
In the ID4-verse all modern computer technology was derived from the ship that crashed at Roswell; that’s the reason they were able to upload a computer virus into the Mothership’s computers.
There you go.
Loved the original, thrilled about a sequel, although they really should have struck when the iron was hot and not 20 years later. Trailer looks fine. You don’t expect much depth beyond the military stuff. Although really if they were going to continue the story they should have done a TV show. I’ve never been a fan of whole wars resolving themselves in 2 hours. Presumably if these aliens are taking another crack at Earth, they’d make better preparations so that they wouldn’t lose the war in just three days again.
If you’re talking about Mars Attacks!, that was in the pipeline long before (and is based on material long predating) the release of Independence Day.
His character was supposed to be “ridiculously too young to be the President” when he was President in 1996. Pullman was 43 in 1996, making him the same age as JFK.
So I don’t know why he can’t just look his actual age of 62 instead of “super-creepy old”.
Do you mean “Dark Shadows” and “Planet of the Apes” Tim Burton?
Some plot holes in the first movie:
-
I dont think all the spaceships would have been destroyed since only a few countries have air forces capable of going head to toe with the alien ships even without their shields. Although SAM’s and other missiles could have also targeted the big alien ships.
-
Nuclear weapons. ID4 only shows the US using one. Other countries would have also tried.
And just a note, I’d guess that after it came out that the USA had been sitting on an alien spacecraft for 40 years and didnt tell anyone, wouldnt have gone over well.
The first movie was cheesy action garbage, the sequel has got to be worse because all the interesting things you could explore in a post-alien-attack-sequel are far too intelligent to fit the sheer dumbness of the first movie.
Yeah yeah. But Burton’s masterpiece-to-clunker ratio is still extremely high. ID4 was made by incompetent hacks who inexplicably continue to work…
Will I haven’t charted the numbers, I’ll bet the chart has shown a downward trend for a long long time.
