Indian restaurants and those delicious lamb curries

I worked at an Indian restaurant last year so I do know some about this. Albeit I was just a bus boy. If they serve naan I believe whoever said they were from north India were right. The guys at the restaurant I worked at were all from punjab, one of about 13 regions the country is devided into. They were almost all seiks and said many others from the region were Muslim. The seiks apparently have no problem with meats, a perfectly understandable outlook if you ask me. That stuff is delicious. As a side-note I want to mention the best part of the day was when we closed up and ate our meal. They made one huge bowl of something different every night and it was the best food Ive had at an Indian restaurant because they add lots of extra garlic and ginger. Ahhh, that was an Ideal summer job.

I am often looked at like a heathen hen I order my usual Beef Vindaloo by indian food devotees… Most places in NYC offered beef on the menu, whereas here in NC, it’s harder to find beef items. I usually get lamb instead when presented with this.

Yes, Halal is the Muslim version of kosher. I’m not sure what the requirements are, aside from no pork and no intoxicants, but I think it’s a bit more permissive than Jewish kosher.
