I have no serious feelings on the movie either way, but I just have to mention that there’s a short-circuit in my brain that forces me to read the title as “Indiana Jones and the Dildo of Destiny” _every_ goddamn time. Which, honestly, would be a pretty interesting movie, though targeted at a different audience. ---

It wasn’t directed by Spielberg. End of story. An _Indiana Jones_ sequel not directed by Steven Spielberg is as pointless as a _Pulp Fiction_ sequel not directed by Quentin Tarantino. ---

ToD is a terrible film but a great console game. Crystal Skull just pushed the suspension of disbelief way beyond breaking point too many times, but at least it had Karen Allen in it. I don’t care which way around they get ranked - they’re both stupid even for the genre. ---

It’s out here in Australia, and I went to the first session at my local cinema. It’s great! I loved it all! It really feels like a proper Indiana Jones movie, it has all the elements in exactly the right balance, and goes in directions I didn’t expect. If you’re on the fence, definitely go see it. I have no idea what all the trolling rumours were about, because they were way off. Clearly entirely made up out of whole cloth. ---

There’s a thought. Way back when the two movie franchises were getting started, their creators went to Satan to bid on success for their movies. Satan said he could only guarantee success for one franchise. So they started quarreling among themselves about who would gain that success. Becoming bored with the argument, Satan said they could divvy up one franchise’s worth of success between the two of them. Spielberg said quickly “I’ll take the odd numbered films!” Roddenberry said, “I guess that leaves me with the evens.” It would explain so much… ---

I’ll give it a thumbs up. I’m not a tough reviewer, so I won’t criticize the “you led them right TO the thing!” aspect of the movie. It’s VERY Indiana Jones, though. Nazis want a thing, Indy doesn’t want them to get the thing, Indy finds the thing first, Nazis steal it from him. GREAT chase with a Tuk Tuk through Tangier. Funny moments, cheering moments, nostalgic moments, Nazis getting what they deserve. ---

It’s too long with too many similar chase scenes. It’s way better than Crystal Skull though. ---
