Indoor cat gets the bird

A fledgling flew down off our fence and into the sight path of our dachshund and was not as lucky. It was already dead when I retrieved it from the back of her throat. (Neither me nor her wanted me to do that, but it had to be done.) Same thing happened with a baby bunny that made the mistake of running straight to her. She’s an old girl, but her prey drive is still very strong.

My in-laws have a leash-trained Bengal - She’s caught a bird (twice) and a chipmunk while on walks. It’s mighty impressive.

For about a month one time, they had a vole problem in the front yard. Put the cat on her leash, and staked the leash in the yard for an afternoon… no more voles.

She has a carabiner on a laundry line (one end on the patio, one end in a tree) in the backyard, and she has snagged more than one or two birds on that line, but she has a little more room to maneuver there.
