I get dry eye extremely bad when sleeping at night. When I wake up and open my eyes it’s extremely painful, like having sand in your eyes. I just keep a bottle of eye drops on the nightstand at all times and it immediately alleviates the problem.
I don’t get dry eyes, so I don’t think that’s what is causing this. The key words here are I think. Maybe they’re dry and I just don’t realize it?
I haven’t seen my eye doc because, well you know, covid. The stabbing pain just happened again, it’s the third time since I started this thread:

Agree with the others: get seen by a good ophthalmologist.
There are any number of – for example – corneal issues that could present like this. You need to be checked.
