Dudes, it’s cool. Besides, it reminded me of the Haunted Tank, which is one of the coolest comics ever. (WWII tank haunted by Gen. Jeb Stuart).
I’m not a thread nitpicker.

What about Katie as K. T. ?
I’ve seen at least one guy nicknamed Doc because his initials were MD. May want to pursue that tact if you can’t get any good two letter names.
I have two African friends (female) named Ije and Elodie. That’s right…E.J. and L.O.D.!
I almost thought it might be an African thing, but they’re from different countries. I think it’s just a coincidence (because I only have maybe three other African friends).
My sister goes by this. Just sayin’.
Apropos of the currently active threads in Cafe Society about how we often tend to think, incorectly, that we pronounce things a certain way, just because of how they’re spelled. Actually, “KD” is a better approximation of how most Americans (though perhaps not most British) say “Katie”.
Fine, but my sister does go by KT, not only because her name’s Katie but because her initials are K.T.
Makes sense to me – two for one! ![]()
Nay. The main character isn’t supposed to realize for a while that her friend who insists on going by what she thinks is his first name with everyone is really going by his initials. (Going by a first name is odd enough because normal interactions are Ms. / Mr. Lastname.)
LNR = Eleanor
MLE = Emily
Heh heh … I didn’t mean to nitpick, I just wanted to clarify that I thought cochrane wasn’t actually trying to say that there were letters that sounded like “Jeb,” but had gone a different route.
That Haunted Tank comic sounds intriguing. Think I’ll check that out.
Was Elodie from a French-speaking African country? It’s not an unusual French name (Élodie).
My son is named Aref, which is an Arabic name that happens to sound like my dad’s initials (RF). Sometimes I call him Romeo Foxtrot.
In Snow Crash, Y.T. has her named parsed as “Whitey”.
Blues-rock musician KT Tunstall’s real name is Katy… but she spells it as though it were initials.
