It’s called a progressive web app (PWA) which treats a website sort of like a mobile app, except it works on multiple platforms, including Windows desktops and laptops. You can read Chrome’s help page about them [here](https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/9658361?hl=en&co=GENIE.Platform%3DDesktop) and read a previous SDMB thread about it [here.](https://boards.straightdope.com/t/install-sdmb-app/932933/4) I’m afraid that’s about the limit of my knowledge because while I’ve read about them, I’ve never actually installed one.
