# Instrument played by John McCrea of Cake?

Does anyone know what this thing is called, it’s a hand percussion instrument that sounds like a spring loaded piece of wood hitting another wood block. It’s heard in almost all their songs. I want one! It may be Latin or African in origin. Mr. beckwall says it may be a VibraSlap, but the picture of it doesn’t look right.

I think Mr. beckwall has it right. A google image search yielded [this](http://www.99x.com/shop/auction/images/cake_vibraslap.jpg): a vibroslap signed by the members of Cake.

Yep, I think the vibr **o** slap is a completely different “instrument” found advertised in the seedier parts of the internet…
