Instead of working? I’m sorry - whatever made you think they were NOT working while going to school? Where did I say that? NOWHERE! That is you, once again, _assuming_ anyone not you is a freeloader. Only YOU could turn a 45 year old woman seeking a second degree, a master’s in education, to _improve_ her lot in life while working to support herself and two teenage sons _without help_ into something bad. Isn’t that what you _want_ people to do? Better themselves? And what the HELL makes you think my sister who went through medical school did NOT work? As soon as you get that MD you go to work, it’s called an “internship”, which my sister just completed this June. “Further” into debt? _Neither had ANY debt_ prior to re-entering school, and that is the ONLY debt they have. As I said - my sisters get up off their asses every day and go to work. For years they have done it while _also_ improving their education. I fail to see how you have ANY grounds to criticize either of them. My husband and I covered “several hundred dollars in medical expenses” when we had _no insurance at all_, without asking anyone for help. So whoopee. I am NOT impressed by that “accomplishment”. You do, however, receive SSDI which is a taxpayer funded government benefit program. So you take government money every month instead of working for a living. Just want to clarify that for anyone reading. ---

Actually, I do believe that **curlcoat** understands that she’s not getting money that’s “her’s.” But she also believes that because she paid into the system, she’s not getting money unfairly, she contributed, now she’s getting back. And, apparently, she also believes that vast majority of those who have to take advantage of any program designed to assist people in hard times is a freeloader and part of generations of welfare recipients, maybe welfare cheats. And obviously, these people haven’t paid into the system, like she did, and are looking to get something for nothing and are expecting that everyone else pull their weight for them, unfairly. That’s the only way to explain why what’s sauce for her goose isn’t sauce for anyone else’s gander. ---

Huh, someone with a brain. The only thing you got wrong is I have no idea if it is a vast majority or not, since no one seems to care to study it. Apparently, it is OK with the government that we continue to pay to support these people, and now perhaps also hand them free or extremely cheap healthcare.
