I am a licsenced driver living in Wisconsin. My friend (who doesn’t have his liscense) asked if he could drive my car this weekend.

I would never do anything that dumb, but it got me to thinking, if he got into an accident, and got hurt, how much would insurance pay? Would they pay for anything? I have full insurance.

Considering said friend has no license, if he were to drive your car and get in a wreck, your insurance wouldn’t pay anything.

It would depend on the wording of your policy. Some companies have very restictive policies that even other family members are not covered (My son’s Mercury policy is one such) other have a more liberal defination of who can drive the car.

Giving your car to an unlicenced person, who then has an accident is almost a for sure cancellation with any company.

The policy will not pay.

> In other words, a violation of the authorized driver clause suspends the coverage of a motor policy for as long as the violation exists. For example, while the car is being driven by someone without a valid driver’s license, the policy is not in force for as long as the unlicensed driver is driving the car.
