Have you ever, upon visting the domicile of an acquaintance for the purpose of enjoying an evening repast, discovered that the comestibles were of doubtful integrity? By which I mean that the semolina product was of a watery consistency, the green vegetables had lost there individual forms in favor of a single indistinguishable mass, and the _Gallus domesticus_ had acquired the flavor of an oak. ---
