That may be true for most people – I don’t actually know – but that certainly doesn’t mean it’s true for all people. Try a variety of programs and see what works with you and your mindset.

A.A. is more effective than any other stand alone treatment.

A.A. _and_ therapy is best.

Note, addiction is a beast. There are no treatments that will guarantee success. No one treatment will work for everyone. Some folks will ride their addiction all the way down regardless of how many times/what kind of treatment they receive.

I certainly believe that. What I like about AA is the peer-based structure, having a sponsor to help you through the tough times. There is a lot I don’t like about it, as I alluded to above, but this is one thing I feel is immensely helpful. Tying it in with CBD (cognitive behavioral therapy) or similar makes a lot of sense to me.
