In the local mall, I saw a t-shirt with 2 lines of text: _Tu eres un pendejo. You are a friend._ Even with my limited Spanish, I had a chuckle on this one. Anyone else see interesting t-shirts this holiday season? J. ---

My favorite t-shirt of all times had a little demon on the front and Maxwell’s 4 equations on the back. I almost had to be walking through a physics lab for anyone to “get it”. Wish I had bought more when I had the chance. Best one lately has to be “Jesus died for your sins ------- and all I got was this lousy tshirt” ---

Was it Cecil who wrote about Anglo employers so stupid they thought “tu madre” meant “Yes, boss”? I get (too many) clever t-shirts as gifts when I hardly ever wear them any more. A girl on a bus had one that said “Lets not ruin it by talking”. It was doubly funny because it was in Mexico. And probably no one understood it. I just gave her a thumbs up and pointed at her t-shirt. ---

But … An employer who chooses to hire many folks who predominantly speak Spanish and then makes no effort to understand at least a little of what’s said around him/herself is demonstrating a lot of cluelessness as a manager. Mostly as a matter of business efficiency and self preservation, with cultural sensitivity a minor consideration at best. ---

I’m well past the age where I can get away with wearing a t-shirt that has anything at all written on it. But my favourite funny t-shirt has been and continues to be a plain white tee with tiny writing that you’d have to get real close to read, that says, “You’re so fucking nosy.” Still makes me chuckle. See? I’m doing it right now. ---
