I was just browsing the goodies. These [Powerline Ethernet bridge adapters](http://www.ebay.com/itm/2-pk-ALFA-AHPE305-Powerline-Ethernet-Bridge-Adapters-200-mbps-works-w-Roku-2-XS-/130701744648?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item1e6e6e5a08) might also work if you happen to share electrical service with the office. But I don’t have much experience with those, so I’m not familiar with the limitations.

ETA: Here’s a more permanent, non-ebay (but slightly more expensive) [link to the same product](http://store.rokland.com/products/alfa-ahpe305-2-pack-powerline-av-ethernet-bridge-adapters-200-mbps) above.

> How far is the flat from the office? With the right kind of wifi equipment, [which can be surprisingly cheap](http://store.rokland.com/collections/wi-fi-bundles-alfa-networking-kits), you may be able to bridge that gap wirelessly.

> Rooting your phone is a good solution if you want to do that. My unrooted Tmobile Gingerbread phone natively does tethering and wifi hotspot for free, and I would hate it if they “upgraded” me.

> But if you want to get your DSL network in order without necessarily running cable, there are options. I can recommend the linked seller, and if interested, you should probably also check out [their ebay auctions](http://stores.ebay.com/Rokland).

i’ll check into all this. i need to decide if equipment to bridge is better or just rooting.

i wish wish wish i could revert to gingerbread and just go back to the native tethering that you are still enjoying.

there also may be apps that allow it.

thanks for all your help. and the links.
