Internet: blessing or curse?

True however I’m surprised how many people especially young people have lost their curiosity about learning. They expect to be spoon fed information and whine about having to read and understand information. They want to learn from a meme or YouTube video. But read a contract or agreement to ldiscover the pertinent info is beyond their patience and comfort level. Imo.ymmv.

They want to be entertained by a meme; the meme doesn’t educate, but rather reinforces a perception they probably already have. The meme frames the thought.

But there’s nothing wrong with wanting to watch a YouTube video per se. YouTube can indeed be very educational. What’s missing is the ability to discern what’s educational and what isn’t. And yes, that’s a problem.

It seems I have an issue discerning the useful Ytubes from the useless, the ones I pick are like a rabbit hole of deception making things look simple when they’re skipping steps and highlighting the finished product. I’m like wtf I’m lost. Lol.

Oh yeah, no doubt. Bad instruction is bad instruction. I don’t know whether this is just a case of expert’s blind spot or just plain not giving a toss for the sake of making a kewl video.

And 30 years ago I preferred reading comic books to reading Jane Austin.

Of course kids these days prefer fun entertaining stuff to harder things. They also prefer candy to vegetables. This is nothing new, they just need to be made to eat vegetables, whether they want to or not, until they actually start to appreciate their benefits.
