Today I needed to send some faxes, and started looking at the online services. I thought if I could find a free service that would be great, but even a buck or two a page would be all right, and worth the convenience of not having to go to Kinko’s to have them do it.

Well, I found out that the free services are free for a good reason, and they’re about worth what you pay. Their websites don’t work right, or they only let you send a .doc or .txt, or whatever, which isn’t much good when you have to return a signed form. But all the better services I found require a monthly subscription of between $10 and $20 or so. I don’t want to subscribe to a service when I send, at most, 4 faxes a year–unless of course my life is about to go some completely unforeseen revolutionary change which will have me faxing more than that. I ended up accepting a trial account with efax that I must now remember to terminate in 30 days.

Are there any good services that will let you fax any type of Windows or Mac supported document, and charge you on a per-use or per-page basis?
