Congradulations on starting this thread!! The misspellings you see on the internet are sometimes quiet rediculous.

My favourite homonym error is still the one in my local paper a few years back - “Police say they are unlikely to recover the stolen goods unless the thieves attempt to porn them”.
But is that a just a misspelling, a typo or a real homonym? Or perhaps just a homophone because of regional pronunciation? Last I heard, _porn_ wasn’t a verb. (But maybe it could be. Mmmmm.) Maybe the thieves could try to fence the stolen goods at obscenely low (or high) prices.
I sort of like typos. I think they’re usually pretty funny and can make some of the biggest tight asses seem a little more human.
I assume you mean in place of “segue?” I know people who use “segway” like that when speaking.
I was thinking of buying a Segway, but now maybe I’ll get a Segue, after reading this post.

How do you mean? Is “segway” a proper word?
“Loose” for “lose”, as in “I win! You loose!”
Although I thought “loose her virginity” was pretty funny.

typos don’t bug me so much; which is good because I commit them all too often. It’s the homonym mistakes and creative spelling of more coloquially used words that bug me. I see a lot of weird ones:

peeked for piqued
shutter for shudder
sight for (web)site
lense for lens

Not really misspellings, but mis-meme-ings: “virii” and “penii.”

Does anyone really believe these are legit plurals, or are they just being cute?

[Segway](http://www.segway.com/)

Ah, interesting. So that’s what those things are called. I would assume, however, that it would be pretty clear from the context whether the person really means a segway or whether they’re misspelling segue. 🙂
