Not like the US debacle, that’s for sure. The UN force I’m proposing would not be too cowardly to actually put boots on the ground.

The calculus I see is World > Any 1 country/group. In terms of numbers, in terms of resources.
I’m NOT talking about the current piddly UN peacekeepers. I’m talking about a large, well-resourced global military.
The latter for funding, but not for troop provision. The UN military does its own recruitment, not just hosting member’s existing troops (which in any case would be drastically reduced in this ideal scenario).
There are no “countries” involved. The units are UN-flagged, UN-hosted, utterly mixed membership down to the unit level. If any individual soldier has a conflict of interest, he sits out that engagement or gets reassigned to a different squad in a different conflict.

I think the issue with your scenario is that getting to a “global police force” is completely unrealistic. If the world ever got to that stage we’d be living in a sufficiently globalized utopia where any police action against a nation state would be entirely unnecessary. Else we’re looking at a world war scenario with two very large armies comparable to NATO and BRIC (or similar analogs).
So Russian aggression on Ukraine would be a much less regional conflict.
As would the case of Iran for that matter. IRGC would still kill protesters at will inside its own borders and the world would still stand by in order to avoid a much larger conflict.
It does seem a bit like saying “if we solved world conflict, we would be able to solve world conflict”.
Even so, there are many examples where sanctions have not worked. Cuba and Iran immediately come to mind.
NATO intervention worked to end conflict (and ethnic cleansing) in former Yugoslavia. Not so much in Iraq and Afghanistan.
I know you know it’s not a one-size-fits-all world.
