I chuckled too. I see no reason to report the pilot. He was trying to write his name. 😉 Any resemblance to a body part is coincidental. This is a first. I haven’t heard of naughty sky writing before. I guess it takes some skill to make pictures in the sky? ---

The pilot has released a statement. It reads in part, “Huh-huh, huh-huh-huh, huh-huh, schlong, huh-huh-huh, huh-huh…” The statement continues on for nine pages. That’s five thousand words, depending on whether you define “huh-huh-huh” as one word or three. ---

I wish I could have witnessed it because drawing penises is funny. I suppose “Surrender Dorothy” would have taken more skill than the pilot had, drawing anything with an E/A-18 Growler takes skill. I’m gobsmacked that nobody ever thought of this before. In 40 years in aviation I’ve never heard contrail skywriting talked about as an idea for a prank. Phallic or otherwise. I wonder if maybe, just maybe, this is something the naval aviation underground already knows about but historically just did it over the high seas? Lots of good in-jokes get ruined when some clueless doofus tells them outside the circle and triggers outrage. I wonder if this was an example of that. Where of course all the Navy brass have to straight-facedly say “I’m shocked, shocked I tell you at all these carrying ons.” While slyly remembering the cool skywriting they did back as a lieutenant somewhere over a ship in the middle of the Pacific. ---
