At least blackberries are good to eat, if you want to take the trouble to collect them.
They are invasive. But they taste so much better than kudzu…
It depends on the bush. Cultivated ones are big and sweet, but wild ones quickly revert to small and much less sweet.
Really, the blackberries I remember as a kid were wild & small but sweet. The biggest issue was they liked the same areas as poison ivy.
Some wild ones are delicious; others less so. Some have better flavor than most of the cultivated, at least in years when the weather’s suitable.
Exactly. The usual reason an invasive species is so destructive is that they have no (or much fewer) natural predators in their new environment. The trick is to find predators that work against them without being equally as devastating to the new environment, since new predators come with the same issue… nothing to limit their spread.
