Inventions that went backward

Huh. We dim them all the time. I put a dimmer in the master bathroom so as not to be blinded when getting up in the middle of the night.

There are 5 lights in the ceiling in our living room. They are on a dimmer. When turned down low the LEDs emit a sort of orange glow instead of white. It’s very nice. A warm feeling and good if you are going to watch TV. If playing chess or cards, we just make them brighter. Special bulbs. But no big deal. Got them at Lowes. I think they have a couple of different colored LEDs in them to achieve the color

While these aren’t exactly new, I am seeing them more often, even after covid. Come to think of it, nobody removed the old style drinking fountains / bubblers around here during covid. So that was a thing? If this were the case, then it would be an example of “went backward.”

I love these bottle fillers. They cleanly dispense water into your own bottle (nice) and even have a counter that counts the number of disposable plastic bottles not used (whee).

Same with my Toyota. Irritating. At least let me override the behavior through a setting.

Me, too. I dim the hall light in the evening. I dim the lights in the den when i watch TV. I leave the bathroom light on “not super bright” except when i want to use tweezers or something.

I love dimmers.
