I’ve just driven back and forth across Iowa and am astonished that a corporation would name it’s gas station/convenience stores “Kum & Go”. Anyone know this operation and how the name came about? Are these folks extremely naive or extremely clever? Yes, I know I should do a web search on the name but I’m too tired after a 1k mile drive. ---

Missouri doper here. I live in a small town in NW Mo, about three blocks from a Kum & Go. It’s on 69 highway about 3 blocks south of another C-store named “My Store.” ---

I don’t know about elsewhere, but here in Minnesota there is a “Pump & Munch”. I can’t even type that without cracking a grin. ---

The stores are operated by Krause-Gentle Corp. (founded by Mr. Krause and Mr. Gentle, of course), and it appears that the “Kum ‘n’ Go” name was chosen (during a more innocent time, I guess) to maintain the initials “K-G.” ---

What’s wrong with Kum 'n Go? Fine stores. Sure as an adolescent the name was always good for a laugh, and okay, it still is. I don’t know anything about the stores, though. They were just always good for a laugh and had pretty good doughnuts. ---

A bit more on the Krause - Gentle Oil Company: Bill Krause married Tony Gentle’s daughter. They started very small with (i think) a Deep Rock (Kerr-McGee) station in Hampton, Ia., they opened a number of stations under the _Holiday_ franchise and soon grew to be the second largest oil company in Iowa. When _Holiday_ went on the decline, they re-branded with the _Kum & Go_ name to, as **Nametag** mentioned, “…maintain the initials K-G.” # ---

I went to the Univ of Iowa which had a couple of them on campus. We came up with 2 alternate versions: 1. Spurt & Split 2. Ejaculate - Evacuate Amazing what cheap beer will do to the mind in an Iowa winter. 😃 ---

No **Kum and Go** in New Mexico. In the Las Cruces area, though, there is a local chain of gas station/convenience store outlets called **Bar-F**. The locals there don’t get it … really.
