iPhone battery replacements?

I wouldn’t trust a phone (home or shop repaired) to have the same water resistance as the original. (My phone, the Motorola Moto G Stylus 5G, was never given a rating in the first place so I always treated it as if it had no protection.)

On the official front, I think battery replacements done by Apple or an Apple Authorized Service Provider also include replacing the existing water-resistant seal around the display. Since the water-resistant stuff degrades over time, that’s sorta/kinda like leveling up the water resistance. But there are still other water seals besides the display seal that don’t get replaced.

So, all things equal, when it comes to water resistance, getting a battery replaced by Apple or an AASP should basically be a push to slight net positive.

Update to this thread. At the end of May, my iPhone 12 Pro battery health was at 82% and the guy at the Apple Store advised against replacing it. But today, I woke up to find it was at 79% so I booked another appointment and they replaced the battery for $89 (plus sales tax). I still plan to buy the new iPhone model being released this autumn, though this phone will probably go to my mother for her use.
