After you choose a mount, measure for a short Lightning cable. I found a 12 inch one on Amazon that lets me power my iPhone without a long cable flopping around.
I’ve used these for several years now. It’s a metal ball that you stick somewhere with an adhesive back, and there is a strong magnet that attaches to the 'phone (or in my situation, the case I have for the phone.)
This allows placing the phone on the ball mount in any orientation, and the bonus is, the strong magnet on the back of the phone allows me to stick my phone to anything a magnet will stick to.
Just make sure you never put your phone in the same pocket as a credit card or hotel key that has magnetic stripe…
