Hitting the little button on top of the phone while in a call on an iPhone hangs up the call. ---

I have a brand-new smartphone, an LG Ally, and it’s virtually impossible to ass-dial! (With my old “dumb” phone, I frequently took pictures of the inside of my pocket. Most of the buttons were inside, but the camera button was outside.) I have the auto-lock set to one minute. To unlock, you have to _first_ slide out the keyboard, _then_ do the unlock slide on the touchscreen. That sequence is not going to happen inadvertently in my pocket. I haven’t hung up on anyone by my cheek touching the screen, but I have pressed unintended touchscreen “buttons” in voicemail playback that way. As best as I can tell, my phone doesn’t disable the touchscreen, which I wouldn’t want it to anyway with all the “press 1 for this, press 2 for that…” involved in voicemail. ---

I haven’t had any issue with my 3GS. iPhone 4 user checking in; the initial release of iOS 4 didn’t play well with the proximity sensor in the iPhone 4 – there were some wonky results and random trippings of the sensor. Since the multiple software updates since then, everything has worked fine with it, IME. ---
