I have to get a new iPod for Saudi. I see Apple is offering a few lines of engraving. (I did not see how many letters.) What ought I have engraved? ---

I use mine exclusively for exercise, so I had “keep going.” engraved on it. What are you going to use yours for? What kind of music or other content will be on it? ---

If you can hold off, pretty much any two-tone graphic can be laser-etched on the back of an iPod. Places that do laser marking can take an Illustrator file in, spread a liquid suspension of microscopic glass beads on the back and lase the pattern. The beads explode, etching the graphic onto the reflective surface. I have a client who does this. Message me. ---

I would honestly put your name and either a phone number or an email address on it. If it is lost it can be returned to you and if it is stolen you have proof it is yours. If you don’t want to do that, I highly recommend “I can haz iPod?” ---

Probably _not_ “Baruch atah adonai…” (and I know I’ve mangled the spelling). The “if lost, contact…” with email is good. We got both kids’ iPods engraved simply with their names - we figured that enough kids at school have them, and this would provide minimal protection against another kid picking it up and claiming it to be his/hers. BTW - “for Saudi”: does this mean you got a new job and are heading back? ---
