[/QUOTE] I’m 35 and have bought a vast array of albums, CDs and downloads, and there’s just no way I could have 30 gigs of MP3s I’d actually want to listen to. More than half of all songs that get loaded into my iPod are deleted after one listen. ---

I couldn’t get into their albums for a long time, but when I did I was glad I saved the whole things instead of just songs like _Wish You Were Here_ and _Money_. I don’t delete anything. I’ve got Backstreet Boys and Celine Dion on my computer MP3 collection forcristsakes!! ---

I don’t have, nor am I going to get, the iPod Touch, simply because I have the iPhone. The best part about these devices (and there is a lot of good stuff)? Straight Dope in the pooper. Worth every penny. ---

I have a Pocket PC (a Dell Axim), and it does audio and video with limited storage, internet browsing, and a whole lot more. (I use it mostly for work.) It was more expensive than the iPod Touch, though, and I don’t think they’re making the Axim anymore. What I really need is something that plays music and has a shit-ton of storage, since my mp3 collection is at 130GB and I like to have it all with me when I do my radio show. (Right now I pack up the laptop and an external HD.) I will almost certainly be picking up a 160GB iPod Classic in the intermediate future. ---

[/QUOTE] According to [this review](http://reviews.cnet.com/portable-video-players-pvps/archos-605-wifi-160gb/4505-6499_7-32477557.html), the Archos 605 plays MPEG-4, AVI, and WMV. ETA: The problem with avi is that it’s actually just a container format, not a codec. Sometimes when devices say they play avi files, it’s not clear exactly which ones they will and won’t play.
