Hey I’m a genius. Scored 131. This is the first IQ test I have every taken.

Is that typical for IQ tests because it seemed really easy. Not that that is an arguement in favour of me being a genius but more an argument for invalidness of IQ test. It would seem to me that a bunch of number sequences and word associations (seemed to be approx 75% of the test) is not a real indicator of intelligence.

You could also try [www.iqtest.com](http://www.iqtest.com)
It claims to give a score (in a scaled down test) to within 5 points of a full test.

I got a 137. I haven’t taken one of these kinds of tests in years. I’d forgotten how much thought some of the logic questions require. Hey, I wonder if I show my score to my boss and ask for a promotion and a raise…you think? No, probably not. Ah, well.

1. The only one where I couldn’t come up with a guess was this one:

One hundred businesspeople gather at a meeting. 85 of them carry a cellular phone, 80 of them have a beeper, 75 of them speak at least two languages and 70 of them wear a suit. Therefore, a certain number of them have all of the above: a cell phone AND a beeper AND speak at least two languages AND wear a suit. Out of these 100 businesspeople, what is the least possible number who have all of the above?

Which, not to be _too_ humble, is an excellent reason not to believe in IQ tests.

</div>

I scored 122 the first time and 126 the second.

The answer to the business person question was 10 I believe. I believe the solution to finding the smallest number of people that have all 4 is to add the ones not in each group and subtract from the total (i.e. 70 wear suits so 30 do not, so 30+35+20+15 = 90 so 100 - 90 = 10)

I had a bit of trouble with the unscrambling (I only got Berlin) Also, a couple of the which one is not like the others got me. I am sure I got all of the sequence and picture ones.

What did you put for the coffeemaker one? car/gas = coffeemaker/?

My two choices were water and electricity, both valid for different reasons (what makes it go, vs what you put in it…)

What is the “correct” answer or is there one?

The way I figured the last one was like this:

The number of people with cell phones is 85, thus the number without is 15.

The number of people with beepers is 80, and if all fifteen people without cell phones are among them, that still leaves 65 people with both.

75 people speak two languages. That means 25 don’t, and if all those 25 fell into the minimum number of people with beepers and cell phones, that would still leave 50 people with all three.

70 people wear a suit. If all 50 of the minimum number of people with cell phones, beepers and who spoke two languages were among them, then that would still leave 20.

20 is the minimum.

I’d say the electricity is more valid… I mean, you also put coffee in the coffee maker. So the most clear and logical answer is electricity.

the answer is deer. Why? I don’t know. How do I know? The power of the “BACK” button, and trial and error.
