Iran: Russians and Chinese say back off

Dennis Kucinich. (But do the American people really want a vegan-pacifist saint for POTUS? )

Saint?? :stuck_out_tongue: But to answer your question…no. We don’t.

-XT

You know I’m just busting your chops, right? And no, your post was fine…but you just had to throw that last sentence in there, didn’t you?

Yup…I know you pretty well by now Red. :stuck_out_tongue: Its why I toss out the nuke em from orbit thingy about the Spanish…just to have some fun.

No offense my friend. Carry on.

-XT

Well, yes. Apart from having been married three times and divorced twice – and who scorns that nowadays? – DK is a saint compared to everybody else in the field.

Kiss of death then (as if he’d need another nail in his political coffin wrt the presidency :stuck_out_tongue: )…I’d say quite a few of the folks who might vote for him wouldn’t regard his being a ‘saint’ as a desirable attribute, lets say.

Regardless…I think its pretty clear that the American people don’t want the man. Just let it go BG…he ain’t never gona be President. Not in this reality.

-XT

Gukumatz, quite welcomed. Fact is, what I see is not that different from where I’m standing.

And damn, I know he has a snowball’s chance in hell, but I really like Kucinich. I think he’d do wonders not just internally but world-wide. :frowning:

As for the ones in the running, not enamored with anyone. Edwards, maybe. Would that Gore was in. He certainly has grown in my estimation since 2000. Speaking of “growing” I think that’s what finally happened to him: once he got out of politics officially, he grew a pair.

I know, I know. I’ll campaign for him until the 2008 Dem convention, then campaign for the Dem nominee. Just like I did in '04.

But at least the “socialist garden gnome” (John Stewart came up with that one) scored a really hot chick for his third wife!

I’m kind of watching Obama atm to see what happens there. Other than that, I’m not hopeful for ANY of the current main stream guys…Dem OR Pub. Though I MIGHT go with Rudy if he makes the grade…but thats more for contrary-ness and to piss off my dad. :stuck_out_tongue:

-XT

Would Rudy support a war with Iran?

Yeah, my nephew (American-born, btw), who just started college in the States and is really getting into politics, talks him (Obama) up to me all the time.

I guess I just don’t see what everyone else does. I mean, sure, the guy’s bright and charming, but I don’t even know what his policies really are.

And please, don’t mention Hillary. Can’t stand the (blank).

See here.

My guess is that ANY candidate that can actually be elected in the next term is going to have to ‘support’ the war in Iraq…at least in the short term. We are there after all, and while I think most American’s are unhappy about that now (and blame Bush et al rightfully for the mess we are in), I doubt most American’s are rdy to cut and run at this point. Thats not to say, of course, that whoever is elected my try some kind of deadlines or phased withdrawal. I like to THINK Rudy is one of these…but really I just tossed his name out on a whim to be honest. I certainly wouldn’t vote for him (or against him) on a single issue like Iraq…and I’m not sure of his stance there as yet, as I haven’t seen what he’s said about it.

-XT

He’s got a lot of personal magnetism and charisma. As for his politics…well, I read some of his book and can’t say that he is in line with my own politics for the most part (he doesn’t strike me as the fiscal conservative type  ). But I’ve actually seen him speak in person and there is something drawing about him. I don’t know (and rather doubt) I WOULD vote for him…but you never know. Like I said, I have my eye on him and will be watching him. (ed) Of all the candidates, he’s, IMHO, the most interesting personality.

Ironically, I actually don’t have much of a problem with ole Hillary. Oh, I probably wouldn’t vote for her, but I don’t have quite the fire in my heart where she is concerned. She strikes me as very similar to Billy boy (without all the fooling around with interns thingy  )…she is a reed in the wind where politics are concerned. My main problem with her is her stance on banning games and such to be honest…I find her quite abrasive there. Other than that I’m pretty much…meh. :stuck_out_tongue:

Well, I could see that happening. I’ll leave it to the reader’s imagination to contemplate the complicated interpersonal and pyschological inssues behind that scandal!

Goddamnit, I’m sick to death of all these ‘oh the prez, he’s sure as hell going to attack Iran and take his Oil’ Bullshit, the fact that the US is bogged down in Iraq and is trying to build up that nation so it can get the hell out, not to mention the virtual bankcruptcy of the any of the political capital GWB had in the first place, does nothing to stop these paranoid fantasies about how US troops are going to cross the Shatt Al Arab or the Zagros mountains and be in Tehran before you can say Oil is ridiculous!

Black Kennedys without a national policy are not much in the fields of international politics or the domestic arena. Sure, he’s the poster boy at the moment, doesn’t mean much in trying to acquire votes.

Who’s this ‘they?’ The Jewish controlled Illuminati of the third world order Alex Jones has been banging on about?

It’s never going to happen, ever, not ever, and especially not in the last years of GWB’s presidency, and especially not when American credibility has been damaged by the war in Iraq.

All this Iranian situation is fucking posturing militarily at best, Airstrikes at worst. There is absolutely no way the US is going to invade Iran at all, if not ever.

Boring, god it’s the same old bullshit tirade, airstrikes are a threat, and the strength of economic and political sanctions, are all that is needed to put the Iranian regime in a bad light, shit, it’s already done that by kidnapping 15 brits again. The Iranian Government would want nothing more than to be attacked, as to provide a propaganda butress for it to justify itself to the outside world.

Trade deficits, yawn, the US has had deficits before in the Regan era, not to mention, the Chinese economy (which I might remind you all is a net exporter of goods, which has propelled it’s economy) needs US consumers to keep spending in order to keep it’s own economy afloat, so they depend on each other more than people realise.

Hearing the buzz words;

‘Chinas a superpower, it’ll take over the US, yayyy’ Even though it doesn’t have basic property rights, or the ability to take care of it’s domestic demand. South Sea bubble alll over again.

or

‘US is gonna attack Iran and take it’s oil’ Is the most annoying cliche that keeps cropping up.

Use your goddamn common sense.

I asked if Rudy would support a war with Iran, not Iraq.

Would you vote for a Clinton/Obama ticket?

It does now. On paper, at least.

Still not far enough. Which means it can never compete on an equal footing with Western States until it does. Plus there’s no way in which they can’t stop people who’ve illegally taken land and just use the property legislation as a waver.

The Economist did a more in depth analysis which I read.
