Iranian military seizes 15 British sailors in Iraqi waters

Elsie, what factual errors did you spot in my cites that justified your writing them off as little more than quotes from a “Murdoch rag”? Please elucidate.

There’s nothing jingoistic about recognising that the videotaped confessions were performed under coercion. Indeed, you conveniently seemed to sidestep my points regarding the spiel of those close to the Iranian President, let alone what the captives were being told privately. Hey - but as long as there’s no “American style torture”, everything’s OK!

Your lumping of anyone who doesn’t immediately recognise the lucidity of your position, whether they’re calling for the carpet bombing of Tehran or not, is almost as infantile as your idiosyncratic and oh-so-very-clever usage of “UK.plc” when referring to Britain.

But then again, from personal experience, knowing the special type of person who would actually use, in speech or text, “UK.plc”, debating with you is a lost cause, isn’t it?

In all honesty I find you very, very evasive and confusing to say the least. I could go further but that would entail requesting your presence in the pit, I don’t want to do that.

You don’t answer questions when put to you, you ask for cites when you know there are none, you reply to your own posts, you make light of matters, quoting UKplc and how very, very British.

To cap it all you post an extremely puerile “conversation” between Britain and Iran.

For Gods sake woman, grow up.

You failed to recognise that coerce, force and duress are different words but with the same meaning. You presume to know almost everything and yet you know nothing.

As Dominic quite rightly says, debating with you is a lost cause.

Look, you got involved here because I objected to the hyperbolic use of “forced”, you’re now off at all angles.

I’d like to see some evidence is all, please feel free to quote from where you like, but like most people I’m too busy to follow links to web sites to hunt down on your behalf something you think might support one of your tangents. Use quotes, thank you.

Please try to keep to the original plan, and that includes this silly moaning about what a dreadful poster I am.

In case you’re confused, let me re-state:
a) I have yet to see any mistreatment of these 15 detainees, and

b) It is standard military training to cooperate with captors and to do everything you can (as a detainee) to diffuse situations.
Please give me some quotes or other evidence* in relation to these particular detainees that support your accusations of “forced”, “duress” and “a feeling of coercion”* ?

The thread is into its seventh page.
The servicepeople are back home, (without any wars, executions, or invasions–as posters on both sides should have recognized would be the result from the beginning).
The current crop of posters are demonstrating an inability to play well with others.
I’m tired of having to keep dropping in to see how close to the rule violation line everyone has tip-toed.

Thread closed.
