Nice parsing of the analogy, elucidator, except for one thing: it’s not correct. The established penatly for speeding is a fine, the established penalty for violating that UNSC resolution is “serious consequences.” Hussein’s finding out what that means. ---

I was listening to the CBC on the way home from work tonight, and they said that the first wave of missiles were fired at troops in the desert, and it was determined that they could have been fired from within 150 km. But later in the day, missiles were shot right over Kuwait city from the peninsula, aimed at refineries or the oil fields. Two fell into the ocean, apparently, and two others hit without doing serious damage. The commentator said that these missiles had to have been fired from farther than 150 Km, considering that they went right over Kuwait city, and they were definitely SCUDs. But that’s all I’ve heard, and I haven’t found a report on the web to corroborate that. ---

They modified the SCUDs, and the other missles to fly farther, so why not anything? It’s the range that’s proscribed, not just the type of missle. ---

For the record, it is possible to think Saddam is a diseased, monkey-fucking jackass bastard, AND suspect he’s been lying and hiding things from inspectors, YET still want more proof. Proof as reassurance, or proof so that we could get more of the world behind us, or whatever. Just because people suddenly got proof, in spades, doesn’t mean they look stupid for having wanted it.
