Are there any good estimates for the number of Iraqi military casualties during operation Iraqi freedom? Are there even any bad estimates? ---

Don’t know about military, but some (probably biased) estimates of civilian deaths are available at [Iraq Body Count](http://www.iraqbodycount.net/editorial_june1203.htm). ---

It should be noted that Iraq Body Count is rather unreliable- as it relies on media reports for its tally. This allows gross errors. As for military, the only cite I can find is from the dubious [www.iraqometer.com](http://www.iraqometer.com) site, which asserts 10,200 dead Iraqi soldiers. A cursory search of media reports (again, not the most reliable method) would put the number of dead Iraqi soldiers at a minumum of 5,000. ---

5,000? Jeez, that seems pretty low for the conquest of the Cradle of Civilization…I mean, there have been battles in _Pennsylvania_ that cost more lives than that… Hmph. Whippersnapper civilizations these days…no one wants to hold wagnerian, apocalyptic, _kriegs_ for the soul of humanity anymore.
